AIDS Vaccine

Over the years, I’ve been following research methods and clinical trials as scientists search for a safe and effective AIDS vaccine.  Recently, more data has been published on how the AIDS virus evolves in one’s immune system.  The problem with finding a cure for AIDS has always been that the virus spreads too quickly and can’t be contained.  However, scientists think it’s now possible to develop a vaccine that would anticipate mutations in the AIDS virus.  With thousands of people becoming infected with the disease each day, I hope this new research brings the world a little closer to a cure.

One of my greatest wishes is to see a cure in my lifetime. I've never known a world without AIDS in it, and I would love for that day to come. With all the doctors and scientists working hard every day, I truly believe that we can rid the world of this disease, no matter how long it takes.

My first job out of grad school in the early 1990's was working with PLWA (People Living With AIDS). As a society, I think we are more aware of the complex issues surrounding HIV/AIDS. I think Robin and Stone helped people to understand that HIV/AIDS does impact people from all walks of life. I am glad YOU are back on the scene, Robin. You continue to educate and help others. It is my hope and prayer that we will one day look back at the AIDS virus, like polio, a disease we were able defeat. Keep up the good fight!

Robin, this sounds like great news that will be wonderful for so many people. I'm so glad that more and more research is being done. Every step is a victory that will bring us closer and closer to a cure!

I, too, hope they will find a cure for this disease. Too many people have died from this. People still need to be taught how to stop the spread of this disease. They also need to get tested on a regular basis and stop sleeping around.

Well, Robin, don't give up hope. Keep on fighting to find the cure for AIDS. If I know you, I know you can do most anything. Like you said, the scientists are developing the vaccine, and if I know them, they will find the cure relatively soon.

Thank you for the information. I hadn't read this anywhere.

I'm so happy that the scientists and doctors are finding a vaccine for AIDS and HIV, it's one step closer to a cure. This is great news.

This is fascinating! Please continue to keep posting details about new advances in HIV/AIDS research. In the meantime, you continue to be a great example of living with the HIV virus, demonstrating that HIV need not control your life or define who you are.

I, too, hope that they find a cure soon. My uncle had it for 12 years.

I have lost two beloved brothers to AIDS and many known friends back in East Africa. This is the kinds of news the world has been waiting for. I just want to thank all those who are working hard to finding the vaccine.
