The Name Game

Patrick and I still can’t decide on a name for our little girl.  We’ve been going back and forth on this for weeks, and we’re no closer to finding one than when we started.  There are a million things to think about when choosing a name, and so far nothing seems to fit.  I’m not even sure if she’s going to be a Drake or a Scorpio, which makes the decision all the more difficult.  Whatever name we choose is something our daughter is going to have to live with for the rest of her life.  I’m hoping that when I meet our little girl for the first time, I’ll know what to call her and it’ll just feel right.

Robin, you really need to let her have Patrick's last name. Every child should have their dad's last name as long as the dad is willing to give it to their child.

I think it should be Drake, and you should tell Patrick that. You need to marry him because I'm about to scream if you don't.

Whatever name you give your daughter will be right because you and Patrick chose it together. On her last name, why not Scorpio Drake? She is both your daughter so why shouldn't she have both your names? I can see Patrick's point that he would want her to have his name and you want her to have your name, so Scorpio Drake would be an excellent choice.

Choosing a name is a big deal. You probably want it to be precious and pretty, but strong, too. I say name her Robin Jr. and be done with it! Nah, I'm kidding. Okay, I'm getting ready to load your child up on names! How about Mackenzie George Maddison Breanna for your Uncle Mac, sweet Georgie, Brenda, Anna and Patrick's Mom. She's strong, she'll be able to carry all of those. As for her surname can't she be both? Scorpio Drake sounds good to me. Whatever you guys name her can you still call her "Muffin" sometimes. I love the nickname you gave her. You'll come up with a special name for her and she'll love it.

I really like Alyssa, or Alissa, Rose. That's really pretty. As far as the last name, something tells me that you won't have to worry about that soon!

Hi, Robin. First of all, I really think your little girl should have the last name of Drake. Her father loves her so much already. Second, I think she should be named after Patrick's mother. First or middle name, either one, but I definitely think she should have Maddie somewhere in her name. Congratulations to you and Patrick. I can't wait to see little girl Scorpio Drake.

Robin, picking a name for a girl is really easy. The only thing you have to do is marry Patrick and use the last name Drake. If you're not going to marry Patrick, then you have to use the last name Scorpio. This is such a simple thing, it's not hard at all.

The baby's name should reflect someone from your past... Philomena, Duke, Georgie, put a feminine twist on these names.

You're right about one thing. The cutesy names are defintely out. Kids can be unintentionally cruel. Name the adult she will eventually be.
